Supporting the Fight and the Families, Dancing Together ‘til Cancer’s Defeated
Our Mission:
Raising Funds & Fostering Community: approaching seven figures of support!
Over the last 16 years, Dancers Give Back has raised more than $950,000 to help fund critical cancer research and support the families of people in treatment in WNY and beyond.
Founded as a single fundraising event by friends of Jacquie Hirsch, bravely battling Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia at only 23 years old, DGB has grown from an event to a nonprofit to a true movement, making a measurable material difference and invaluable impact on countless lives touched by cancer - while bringing the best out of the WNY dance community.
What We Do:
No Admin, No Executives, ALL Impact: every dollar makes a difference
Our purpose is to build community and provide practical support to those who need it most. That’s why our event is as accessible, engaging, and multifaceted as it is, and also why - beyond direct expenses - every cent raised goes directly to cancer research or affected families.
Along with funding specific local research initiatives and treatment trials, monetary contributions are distributed directly to families of patients in WNY to help them through the unforeseen expenses and other effects of having a sick family member, such as food (while at the hospital or in general), travel expenses, childcare, shortfalls from missed work, and much more.
